I gave an LLM agent complete access to my old ThinkPad T490s.
It runs on my local network, and outside of that, I can talk to it over Telegram.
It does things on my behalf, like writing code, planning my day, and even personalizing my social media intake.
So far, it’s been fun. Mild existential crisis, but fun.
The best part is that the agent can improve itself. I can ask it to set itself up, obtain access to different APIs and tools, and even diagnose and fix itself if something breaks.
While such systems have existed (at least in theory) for a while, Clawdbot—or whatever it’s called now—is what most people have been longing for. It is the closest LLM scaffolding to the fictional Jarvis from the Iron Man movies I’ve seen.
I’m not too liberal about granting the agent elevated privileges, so access to most of my “personal” stuff is still read-only; the agent cannot send messages or emails impersonating me, but can read them.
The best part (and probably the only reason I did this) is that it’s (he’s?) called Ambaan! Named after Ranganna’s most loyal henchman.
Don’t even try to ask me what Ambaan calls me.
