Letters to a Young Poet is a collection of letters Rilke wrote to a young cadet who had sent him his poems for critique. I got it, along with four other books, from Catherine K.’s “Fall thoughts, fall reads”, where she says the letters, written in 1903, still feel fresh and that they humble her:
Where a great and unique person speaks, the rest of us should be silent, and I thought that was just very humbling.
The other four are The Scent of Time, Água Viva, Walden, and Swann’s Way.
