Hind Swaraj is a short book Gandhi wrote in 1909 on a ship from London to South Africa. It came up in episode 10 of Watching the Wheels. The hosts discuss it critically, as evidence of the “really strange ideas” he held with a lot of certainty, calling railways, lawyers, and doctors evil. He apparently stood by it even in 1946.

I have to read it now to see for myself, as it is said to explain a lot about how Gandhi thought. Over the last few years, I have learned more about Gandhi’s extraordinary life—especially the days after India’s independence, which people often overlook—from the people behind this exhibition.
